Description
Here is a rare 1 fl. oz. / 30 ml splash bottle that held Nino Cerruti Pour Femme (for women). It is an eau de parfum in a distinctive bottle, and it comes with the retail box, the bottom of which doubles as a display stand. The bottle is 5.5 inches tall. When the bottle is on the display stand, the total height (bottle plus stand) is 6.25 inches. This bottle would be suitable for display in a vintage perfume collection or factice collection, as it's one of the most iconic bottle designs of the 1980s. It's also exceptionally clever in the way it was designed, as I'll explain below.
This item is leftover inventory from a perfume store that went out of business. It was never used, but ironically, it evaporated completely, all except for a little bit of thick brown perfume residue at the very bottom of the bottle. The evaporation was due to the fact that the dauber rod was pushed down but not screwed tightly into place. This bottle has been carefully inverted, emptied, and cleaned out, but please be aware that it still smells strongly of perfume because the black plastic dauber rod has retained the scent.
You can tell that the dauber rod has never been completely removed from the bottle. That's because the black cord leading from the top end of the dauber rod is still strung through the tiny hole at the side of the bottle's neck, and the metal tag on the end of the cord is still in place on the other side of the hole. Due to the deliberately short length of the cord, it is impossible to pull the dauber rod all the way out of the bottle because the metal tag gets caught at the hole (see Photo 6). A person would have had to cut off the metal tag at the end of the cord, or snip the cord anywhere along its length, in order to pull the dauber rod out.
When the dauber rod is screwed clockwise into the neck of the bottle for a tight fit, the cord wraps itself around the rod until the metal tag ascends all the way to the hole, as shown in Photo 7. Again, it's a very clever design.
The bottle is easy to remove from the pressure-sensitive clear plastic grips on the black display stand. Simply tilt the bottle far to the left or to the right until it slips out of the plastic grips (see Photo 8). To re-attach the bottle to the stand, simply tilt the bottle far to the left or to the right and slide it back into the grips. Then tilt the bottle upright until the bottom of the bottle catches the grips and it locks into place.
The front and back labels on the bottle show some light signs of wear, but overall this is still in great condition and makes an excellent display.
