Rare 1930s Deluxe Crystal Cut
Decanter of Laszlo Lengyel Essence Imperiale Russe Cologne Parfum.
This presentation makes a rare appearance here on EBay!  This is a full bottle of Essence Imperiale Russe by Laszlo Lengyel.  It is magnificently cocooned in silk satin cushioning inside a red plush box.  Be still my heart..
I have been photographing and researching and listing slowly perfumes from a collection that had belonged to a friend’s grandmother, aptly named Rose.  Many of her bottles had never been opened.  This is one of them.  As you can see from the photos the decanter is full!
This deluxe decanter was issued in 1935.  An appraiser I consulted said the bottle was most likely made by Baccarat.
It makes sense when gazing upon that crystal ball atop the bottle.  One gets lost in its depths.  There is also beautiful detail atop the bottle and at its base.  The bottle has beveled sides as well.
The scent is described as being of the olfactive classification “chypre”.  The term refers to perfumes featuring citrus top notes, floral middle notes (including jasmine and rose), and a base of oak moss, musks, labdanum, and patchouli.
In the photo of the ad one can read a beguiling description of Essence Imperiale Russe.
The label has been described as being historically significant as it is a composite design of Catherine the Great’s coronation robe along with icons in the Coronation Chapel of the Czars.
The bottle is 8 1/4” tall and 3” wide.  There is a leather collar around the top.  In photo #6 you can see that part of it is gone.
You can also see in the photos that time has worn away the red plush exterior of the box.  When I rub my finger along the outside of the box my finger comes away red.
As I have said, I did consult with an appraiser and the price I am asking is in the range they suggested.  Also, please note that the price also includes insurance.
