Crêpe de Chine real
parfum (perfume) splash in a dainty 0.50-ounce (15ml) size by F. Millot Paris France. The original tax stamp is still partially affixed to the upper right side of the box. The size noted in this listing is an
approximation
as liquid volume was originally affixed to the upper back of the bottle via a tiny paper label which is long gone. However, this bottle is larger than an 0.33-ounce and smaller than a 1-ounce. All photos were taken in natural light at
40x magnification
to best highlight overall condition. The buyer will receive the exact item pictured.
This bottle, with frosted glass stopper, measures three inches in height and was a special release to commemorate F. Millot’s 100
th
anniversary (centennial) in 1939. It was available into the early 1940s. Some sellers erroneously list this bottle style as being from the 1920s; however, this is incorrect as the bottle and box style from then (rectangular with marbled stopper) were completely different.
Originally launched in 1925, Crêpe de Chine is classified as a chypre floral scent and features top notes of bergamot, lemon, neroli, orange, and aldehydes; middle notes of carnation, lilac, elemi, ylang-ylang, jasmine, orange blossom, and Bulgarian rose on a base of cedar, heather, amber, galbanum, sandalwood, benzoin, leather, oakmoss, vetiver, patchouli, and musk. Crêpe de Chine was later reformulated and relaunched by Long Lost Perfumes. Be cognizant of the formulation actually being purchased.
